3,564 not a bad attendance at full time people leave! Now the rumour was DEREK WAS INVITED TO TONIGHTS GAME, so I hope you paid him homage if he came. Your rose coloured head lights on your saviour fails to highlight he is the manager who got us relegated for the first time. Some of last seasons performances against teams in and around the relegation zone was abysmal and we lost a fair number of points to them by playing negative football. Seeing we only just went down whose fault was that? Obviously not DA’s, he who can do no wrong.

We still have the same owner, we still have a pitiful playing budget, we still have a small squad, we have had to send loan players back, we cannot afford better players, we have had injuries to key players and dispute that we have flirted with the playoffs until this final run of games. It’s not about ambition it’s about the reality of our situation and it’s not going to change anytime soon.

All that will happen again next season and my hope is we flirt with promotion like we did this year and not flirt with relegation out of the league and to many that’s an attainable ambition, not wild fantasy.

I hope I’m wrong and we build something on top of this reasonable season and reach the heights of promotion back into league one. We are in precarious times, not a rich Club with unlimited resources.

There is a very simple counter arguement but it's been done to death and if you can't see how important Dereks achievements for the club were, you never will. The majority of the fanbase accept the struggle of L2 and resent the sucess we had under Derek. It's madness but it sums up our fan base.

The crowd was decent but it was a very good mid week turn out from Crewe as it was Doncaster. I can rant on here and you can scoff but people who joined the ride under Derek will leave as Ged and the lack of ambition de-rails it. A season ticket tracker would be fun to see this summer.

Overall DA did great for this Club and I like you are very happy for the two years in League 1, it was a great ride. It was not all sunlight and roses and that is due to all the reasons I gave, the counter arguments to you have also been done to death and you will never see the sunrise of your expectations.

We have different opinions, I do agree with you Ged is a work in progress and a punt that has not really delivered on all fronts after our great start under Derek. We will never know how DA would have done if he had stayed. He came twice to this Club knowing the situation and left twice for personal gain and who knows if he will come again, (I think you are hoping and have everything crossed, on that one).

Morecambe cannot afford to sack Ged at this stage and he will be tested over the summer to get a squad together next season, so I think you can carry on with your rhetoric as it will be another ride next season.

Just for info can I ask what was Derek’s three faults in your eyes.

Thank you, very gracious of you to list the 3 things that you disliked about DA. They are the probably the 3 most common on anyone’s list.

Mine :-
1. Results based manager who failed against poorer opponents.
2. Leaving x 2
3. Not getting the best out of Cole Stockton till it was too late last season. He should have made up earlier, man management was about him and his control and not in the best interests of the Club. It cost us League One football.

3500 last night was for me a bloody good gate considering the poor run of results at home.

That figure takes our average gate for the season to circa 3900.

I've been at gates where there have been less than 300 and never thought that we'd manage an average seasonal figure of 3900.....let alone a regular appearance in the EFL or former Leagues 3 and 4.

Not enough praise is given to what our club has achieved under the recent BoDs and despite the off field problems we're still holding our own against clubs with much bigger budgets who are facing relegation ie FGR....I know the position I'd prefer to be in despite the well documented problems.

A good few touches, including a really nice cross, and a monster throw-in. If we don't rescue something tonight, I'd like to see him start on Saturday.

Please please please give some game time to the youngsters, it will do them so much good giving them a taste of men’s football, they should not be cocooned or held back in these next three games. They should be young and fearless and if they are good enough they are old enough. We have had plenty of U21s in on loan why not give our youngsters a chance.

On the perceived ruthlessness of Derek, do you think he would drop Nelson for his failure to close the lad down yesterday which ultimately led to the goal? Unless he was injured or totally exhausted (surely not, 70th minute or whatever against one of the most hopeless sides I have seen this season), I would. And I’d drop every player who sat off in that way until they get the message - more aggression and energy required from the first minute to the last. GEDs modus operandi appears to be motivation by praise plus confidence building, but I don’t think that is capable of constituting a complete motivational solution.

Maybe it is immaterial whether he plays or not on Saturday because I’m sure we’ll be beaten fairly comfortably either way. That’s the spirit!

You and your mates would rather us lose 3-1 every week but at least we have a lovely bloke in charge with zero ambition and freebies all round. I've seen the whatsapp screen shots of the meltdowns when they heard the King was back tonight, priceless.

You work on the principle that a lie repeated often enough becomes the truth, so you keep lying and lying. I've repeatedly challenged you to provide evidence to back up your claim, but of course, you don't and can't. Derek was our most successful manager and I didn't begrudge him leaving on either occasion. He remained with us until the end of the most successful season and yes, he introduced a winning mentality.

What I refuse to accept, as you believe, is that he was managing with the same restraints other managers, including Jim Bentley were working under. Who was Jim's specialist scout & recruiter? Who is Ged's? But Derek had one. Who is Ged's assistant manager? Do you think Derek ever cleared dog crap and broken glass from pitches before starting training?

As you are slow of thinking, I'll repeat it for you, Derek was the best manager Morecambe have ever had. The difference between us, is I'm not so far up my own arse, that I can't see the reality of our situation.

Btw did some checking Berlin, and the Americans that bought Carlisle have no connection whatsoever with the Shrimps interested Yanks, two completely different sets of people. But can see how someone could put 2 and 2 together, but it’s 5 not 4, sorry.

Well done Freez, thanks very much for the enlightenment. It does however throw up two questions straight away. Firstly why haven't the board told us as much? Secondly where the hell did they disappear to? A lot more questions I and many others want to ask but that will do for now.

My question would be, how come certain people get to know about such things - and in depth it seems, but not - it also seems - ordinary fans ?

Bizarre that you spent the whole of last season defending Derek (rightly) for working under very tough conditions while many fans turned on him, yet don't seem to have a similar attitude towards Ged despite the very tough conditions he's also working under.

If you'd said to most fans when Ged first took charge that we'd lose all five of our loan players, Adam Mayor (sale) and JJ McKiernan (injury) in January but he'd still keep us in the playoff mix until just after Easter, I think most would have said it would have been a good achievement.

Appreciate form has become a bit patchy and slid off for the past month and a half, but there was always a fair chance of that happening considering the depleted and stretched squad we have. Before that four game losing run, we'd only lost twice in 12 league games throughout 2024. Fair play to Ged, not everything's been perfect and there are definitely things that need working on, but he's shown some really good stuff in his first few months as manager. Hopefully off the pitch is sorted soon and he can have a proper go at building a squad.

Oh, and on the Crewe game! They were crap in the first half playing into the wind, we were crap in the second half playing into the wind. They've managed to scrape together that one big chance in that second half, then thought they bunkered down well after that. Frustrating and anti-climactic way for our playoff hopes to drift away, but not the disastrous showing that's been made out at times.

My perfect scenario would be Derek back as first team manager. Ged as Assistant Manager. Dave remaining as first team coach and player development.

Probably will never happen :?: :?:

Pretty reliable source but I am not an unofficial Morecambe FC Spokesman or an elite fan so sometimes the rumours may be incorrect.

My info on who is making the kits is pretty concrete though
