Club For Sale, With Interest Already?

Club For Sale, With Interest Already?

Postby Keith » Sun May 26, 2019 9:31 am

According to The Mirror, the club is going to be sold, with three interested parties. Two bids from "financial institutions" and one from "a businessman local to the area". "Financial institutions" would be very worrying. Local businessman could be great for the club. There were a few "local businessmen" at the end of season awards.

Fingers crossed it is resolved soon, we really don't want to enter next season without a pot to piss in while ownership is unclear. A swift sale to the "local businessman" could see Colin & Jason turn a swift profit and move on, leaving the club in a better state than they found it and in safe hands too.

Unless there is an early result to this it is not what we need with the transfer window about to open and existing players to be persuaded to re-sign :(

Has the trust had any contact with the club regarding any sale? A bit disappointed to see it in a paper rather than from the owners. A bit similar to how the Ince thing was announced.

Not sure how they can walk away with a profit? Isn't the club still losing money?

Strongly suspect a deal has been agreed.

Ince story was Alan Nixon at the Sun. There was some substance in it too.

Happened earlier than we all expected I suggest....BUT if it is a local businessman then it could be much better for our club.

Certainly in the week that we announce our largest shirt sponsorship deal, I would assume that this potential sale would have been made aware to our sponsor.

Wonder if our new potential local owner has had connections with the club in the past...... :?: :?: :?:

It was practically unsellable before they came along (it was on the market for a very long time). If it is now a more sellable company, the value may have gone up enough.

Buy for £2,000,000
Invest £500,000 to 'stabilise' the company.
Lose £200,000 over the year.
Sell for £3,500,000 because it is in a better position now.

£800,000 profit.

Totally made up numbers to illustrate the point.

Maybe, the local businessman is Charlie Appleyard? One of the the partners who set up and own Annapurna our new shirt sponsor.

“As a proud Morecambrian and lifelong Shrimps supporter, we are delighted to be able to start a long-term commercial relationship with the club.”

Just a thought?

How does anyone get to know that the club is for sale to make offers?

Something doesn't have to be 'officially' up for sale for an interested party to make a speculative inquiry.

A conversation between the owners and an individual or organisation can result in an expression of interest.

There must be more glamour in owning a posh RU club rather than a northern League 2 club with 1000ish supporters.

If you are reading this Colin and Jason , thanks for saving our club, and please make sure that the person you sell it to has the money to buy it before handing your shares over!!
