Just been in and saw this, are they renaming or has it always been this?

Could be the Red Devilled Shrimps

On a more serious note I haven't a clue still a bit giddy from the Ashes success. 8-)

Mmm? I spotted it as well last week and asked the bar manager what it was all about.

He said they were testing it out to see if the fans thought it was okay (a bit catchier than 'Globe Bar and Grill') and would start using it.

I said I thought those who supported ManU or Liverpool might think it was okay but everyone else would probably think it was a bit naff and unoriginal (just my opinion).

There has been a 'Reds' bar in Lancaster (ie confusion when you're telling people) and we've never been known by that nickname.

I'm sure they had better suggestions when they asked us all to come up with names.
Is the glass half full or half empty? Mmmm? hard to say - but it does look like there's room for more beer!

as noone won the competition for the new name
I can't imagine anyone calling it globe bar and grill
maybe just call it jbs and maybe get some memorabilia of the old ground in there pics etc
I'd like to think that could be the meeting place for a relaunched
supporters club and with it some soul into what could be a fantastic rather than just a good bar
IMHO......

Some people may disagree, but I'm completely with you on that one, Sean. It's an easy way to draw people back to their ways at Christie. Having some memorabilia in there with an atmosphere and suddenly it becomes 'the fans' bar'.

Didn't all the memorabilia get sold off? I would have loved to see the old photos brought to the Globe. Call the bar JB's. Move on but don't abandon our heritage. Basically, the only reflection upon 'heritage' at the moment is a plaque in Sainsbury's car park.

So how did that work out then?

I still think " Clarrie's Bar " or something similar would be a great name, and also a link back to our heritage at Christie.

Thoughts ??

christie park isn't the issue
the issue is the bars name
it's something that is synonymous with
supporting the shrimps....IMHO

I seem to recall suggesting that the new bar should be called JBs when it was first discussed.

Mind you, I could be wrong.....as if! ;)

Anyway, it gets my vote.

All the pictures from jbs and the main stand are in the bowels of the Morecambe Bay Wines warehouse. I told Mrs Cross they should be in the new bar but she said the club weren't bothered! If PMC hadn't taken them they would have been lost forever.

As one chapter closes, another opens. However there are certain times when the past is more than just history to be forgotten. Whatever images still remain from CP and in particular JB's should in my opinion be used in The Globe, preferably in the new Bar which is stark of imagery....of any description.

memorabilia of any description from cp would have been a vast improvement under the stand food and drink plant room, if mrs cross says the club are not interested in celebrating our history ,that is a shame, yeah, shame.

Perhaps it's a bit like the smokeys name
Noone called it the ex servicemans
everyone referred to the bar as smokeys
if enough people refer to the bar at the footie as jbs
it will catch on
so just name the bar jbs anyway and get some pics up

get the photos up in the bar Peter! Let us make it feel like home. This isn't Pol Pot's regime of starting again at year zero, let's embrace our past, our heritage. It's a nice bar but it is completely sole-less. Putting up those photos will make it feel like home. The club could easily print some new photos too and swap them around occasionally, keeping it a fresh photo exhibition.

Let's make it JB's, let's make it the fans bar but let's have some help from the club to give us what we want.

And lets get a supporters club actively meeting in there.

Perhaps if there is thought going into the changing of the name, they should drop the word 'Grill'.... or to combat the trade descriptions act, buy one and start using it?
A nice grilled steak? nope. A lovely bit of grilled chicken? nope. A grilled anything.... nope.
OK, pie then.
