I can't take much more of this...

I can't take much more of this...

Postby shrimper » Mon May 18, 2009 10:07 pm

... when's the first pre-season friendly again?

I think I have CSSD*

I've been snappy with the kids, grumpy with Mrs Shrimper and the cat has spotted the signs and given me a very wide berth these last few days.

It wasn't so pronounced last weekend but it's really kicked in now.

Can anyone offer any help? Any remedy?

Go to the driving range at Heysham Golf Club , borrow a demo driver off Ryan and put your frustration into knocking 100 golf balls as far as you can , once you,ve hit a few past the 50 yard marker  you'll feel much better .

Wearing my Morecambe sweatshirt to Wembley on Monday. It's a similar blue to the 'claret & blue' that the missus will be cheering on.

Then four days later, the fast stuff that fills a couple of weeks during the closed season, as McGuinness & co fly around the Island.

Then three weeks later, head off to China for a three week tour, including witnessing the longest total eclipse of the 21st century.

Then return at the end of July, ready for the new season.

Easy.

So how did that work out then?

Take a trip to a good restaurant, enjoy a good meal with a bottle of Grand Cru (85,86),
a Cuban cigar and contemplate which new car you'll buy tomorrow.

Aah, thanks for reminding me. Love those events.

I saw, on TV, Sam Sexton (heavyweight winner this year, from Norwich) beat Martin Rogan (last year's winner, from Belfast) over in Belfast in the Commonwealth title fight last week. Good scrap that.

My money is on Dean Francis with "Buster" Keaton as an outsider.

I like the fast-starting Darren Corbett's odds in this, think I'll nip to Hill's on my way home.

Get all jobs done my Mrs always pesters me about (that will take all summer)

Go to the touring cars

Go walking in the lakes a few weekends.

Have a nice sunny afternoon at the cricket drinking beer.

Start to brew my first ever batch of home brew which will include a number of brewing and tasting sessions.

Organise the Mrs birthday party

I don't know how I find the time to get to the football

Cricket and Rugby League should satisfy the sporting taste buds over the summer.

C'mon The Cherry & Whites! Challenge cup final up for grabs.

Our tickets sold out weeks ago to season ticket holders and members.

Going camping with the family anyway so looks like I'll miss Keano scoring the winner. ;)

Aaaaargh! Buster (16/1) KO'd Francis, the 1/9 favourite, in the 1st bout. Unfortunately when he got to the final having won the semi he was knackered

In the semi.
Francis beat Simpson in the first bout when Buster beat Bruce Scott. I share your frustration, though. My Corbett was odds-on to beat McKenzie but got too cocky and was caught by the eventual winner. I was counting my winnings!

Oh yes, I remember now  Francis romped through his first bout

Made up for my loss with the greyhounds on SS2 - landed a 55/1 forecast :D

Worst of it was I hurriedly opened a Sky account for the first time on screen to put a saver bet on McKenzie after the first round when Corbett was big odds-on; did it, then couldn't find anywhere where they were taking bets on Prizefighter! It was showing buttons for dogs and football and some cricket game but no Prizefighter - the thing that was being shown live!

There was a phone number but by the time I'd finished messing about my lad was sparked!
