Very interesting interview today ahead of the Carlisle game

He said he had regrets leaving somewhere.. Would be interesting to see where he means from.???

Personally I would love to see him stay next season whatever league we are in

He also said last week that quite a few players had hit their targets whatever that means

Derek wont stay around.

especially if the majority of fans dont buy season tickets, it's normally that money what the Manager uses to sign players in the summer.

Trying to second guess whether Derek is hear next season is impossible. I'd love to see him stay, even if relegated, but there are simply so many other things to consider.

Who owns the club, therefore NaPM campaign or not?
Budget?
His own salary?
Other job offers?

I don't think a relegation will dent his career prospects, as anyone who knows football, understands that he has performed miracles having us even with a sniff of staying up. The chaos that is Morecambe FC can not be overstated. Chairmen elsewhere know that.

But, I do wonder whether psychologically, Morecambe is his 'happy place'? After what must have been traumatic experiences at his last few clubs, especially in Scotland, is he 'happy'? Does he enjoy living in the area? Feel 'settled'? If his salary remains the same, or very close to it, will he be ready for another battle to avoid relegation again, in the National League?

Too many variables.

I think with Derek it may be as simple as taking the best job on offer at any given time. There is very little loyalty in football any more and Derek is a case in point. E.g get’s us promoted to League 1 but does a bunk to a perceived job with more potential at Bradford. I think he wants to be in work so if no better options are available he’ll still be here next season.

I interpreted Derek's interview to mean that he regrets leaving here the second time to go to Ross County... but that is just an assumption. Around the time of the departure, he was confident in the press that a takeover of Morecambe FC was imminent; even being linked to the interested party (who ultimately invested heavily Carlisle, where they've been poorly advised and seen that investment largely wasted to date). When that didn't happen I think he grew tired of the situation and took the first offer that came his way.... a backwards step into Scottish Football irrelevance.

Also in his interview ahead of the Carlisle fixture he mentions the owner is the only person keeping the club going. Whilst technically Mr Whittingham is arranging finance for the club, this is of his own making - and no Morecambe supporter or club official should have any sympathy for the duplicitous toerag. Had he listened to realistic offers for the club months ago when they were on the table instead of trying to offload us to the popman linked to shady crypto currency scams, we would have owners in place who are willing to invest in the progression of the club and its future - rather than destroying it and funding it by debt issue.

It's not very often I agree with RRW but his thinking about DA regretting leaving us for Ross County I believe is self evident in his latest interview.

I feel that DA will stay at his and our club whatever happens in the very near future. To walk away once was by his own admission wrong. To walk away twice I believe is not in his character.

He's also right in stating that the club has survived due to the continuous funding of the current owner. That can't be denied. As much as we all want to see the back of the owner we can't forget his contribution has kept our club from functioning despite minimal resources at a time when a wee bit more could have seen us in a far far better position that we are now in.

I wouldn't thank him for filling the club up with debt!
If the amount of money owed will at some point (if it hasn't already) get to the point when the it is higher than the value of the club.

I might bet wrong but my understanding was that 'the Americans" interested in buying the club at that time were already known by Derek and were different Americans to those who bought Carlisle. I think that was the time Derek said there was a plan to take us into the Championship.

Derek also said we would have NO club without Jason whatever people think of him

Can't think of many if any clubs at our level that are NOT debt free which have owners who keep the club alive through their continuous funding. Even going back to the days of the Baines family in the late 50's / 60's the club carried a certain amount of debt. I suspect that our debt is small compared with some as we have strived to live within an annual budget which is becoming increasingly difficult due to factors well out of the control of our club which is affecting everybody who has to pay day to day costs just to survive.
