Five games left, and both us and Accrington play:

Carlisle [Shrimps home, Acci home]
Salford [Shrimps home, Acci away]
Chesterfield [Shrimps away, Acci home]

Morecambe's other two fixtures: Bromley away, Harrogate at home.
Accrington's other two fixtures: Tranmere home, Walsall away.

We've got to get an away win at either Chesterfield [possibly] or Bromley [unlikely].

Two wins and a draw at home, with one win away we may *just* make it, but only because Accrington sound like they are even worse than us.

Being a glass half full guy, I personally think we will get a win at either bromley or Chesterfield. It was very similar in our two seasons in L1. Shocking away form, then go to the valley and get a resut. Then I think we will get two wins and a draw from the home games. We might need more to survive but I think realistically ten points is as much as we can hope for. Let's take it to the last game at least. I can see accy and Harrogate struggling. We just need one to really struggle

It is our terrible away record that will send us down,already the worst in the clubs history,going to need something miraculous from remaining away games to sort this,just can't see it

I don't think it's strictly away form overall that's the issue. Our away form in the first half of the season was actually pretty good, with our home form being atrocious - remember, we didn't win at home until 1st Jan!

A funny quirk of the fixture list for us this season has been that we faced a lot of the bottom sides away from home in the first half of the season (and did well against them), while facing a lot of the top sides at home (and struggled for results, despite being on home turf). Now in the second half of the season, that's essentially reversed, as has our home and away form.

The issue is how badly we've struggled to get results against the better sides in the division, now exacerbated a little more by being away from home. Naturally, you'd expect to struggle more against the top sides, but the extent to which we've done so has been pretty damaging. In our 14 games against the top seven, we've managed just 5 (out of a possible 42) points! That and the two defeats at MK and Gillingham, who were both in abysmal form, I think will be the killers if we go down.

In terms of the run-in, Accrington's looks alright but their final two games against Walsall and Chesterfield are tough, particularly if Chesterfield are still in the playoff hunt (could well be). I'm really not sure how to predict them as they won that key game against Tranmere the other month and followed it up by thrashing Newport, but they've now just lost consecutive games against sides on the beach 4-1 and 4-0. Good chance that they collapse, but also wouldn't surprise me if they pulled out the couple of wins they might need.

Can't disguise it but our form over the season has been patchy, but for me 2 recent home results have all but sealed our fate. Namely the draw v Barrow where a 2 goal lead was not helped by the unfortunate sending off of Taylor and then the 88 minute defeat by Port Vale. In total that cost us at the very least 4 points which in my opinion had we got the points our current position would have been a lot more acceptable and we would not be staring at the jaws of a humiliating relegation.

This weekends game v Carlisle could be the final nail in our coffin if we do not get a win, with a defeat resulting in us being rock bottom of EFL2. Carlisle will throw everything at us in their usual kitchen sink style and with the vocal support of 1200 Cumbrians behind them we are going to have to fight like never before to get a positive result out of this relegation battle. Yesterday's result showed a mental strength to come back from 2 goals and run out eventual winners 3-2. Not the sort of result that we needed but it is what it is.

That's the positivity one likes to read.

New owners in who get DA signed up for at least another season. Give him a decent budget that he can bring some quality alongside a number of the current squad who resign for 2025.26 season and jobs a good one and a promotion push is well within us.

It might be best to look at the potential next season in national league and what we are up against. Maybe scouting players in the league below etc. It's a shame but it looks inevitable at the moment. Owners and managers come and go but the fans remain. You never know, I can't see it. Hopefully proved wrong in May
