A loss of 1.25million!!!!!!

Reading some of the text is sounds like bond agreed for us to run at a loss and then they would provide extra funding if needed.

If we don't get a buyer soon we could be going the same way as Bury and Macclesfield

The club did say at this time last year that the 2022/2023 accounts would show a loss.

I think our average gate in 2022/2023 would be the highest in our history which makes the size of the loss even more surprising.

Accrington and FGR , both relegated with MFC , have also reported similar size losses to us so there must be a common factor because Andy Holt does run a tight ship at Stanley.

Andy Holt has been doing his nut about how much money was wasted at Accrington last season and said it will never happen again.

We really need a new owner with deep pockets. Could this partly be to blame for us not having a new owner ?.

Curious as it is that the financial swing has taken a negative turn, its not unexpected for the dates of those accounts, for me it’s where we are next year, are they going to be worse? No one to sell now! So promotion will help in the short term, with prize money but will promotion bring more problems?

So will it mean the selling of the Club will mean any potential buyers will be put off? if there are any out there!!

Let’s see what the Board say tonight.

Not read the accounts but I guess bills have gone up significantly in the last 18-months. Reduced income from from player sales and prize money from cups too. Still, it does sound like a huge loss. I suspect other clubs are also in a similar position, so football needs to get its house in order.

No energy price cap for businesses. Its put hundreds if not thousands out of business. That will have had a huge impact for all football clubs, but the smaller the club, the lower the buying power, and the disproportionately bigger impact.

Have I read somewhere that the Premier League have withheld their payments to fl clubs this year, subject to agreeing a payment formula?

Poor buggers probably can't afford afford to throw a few crumbs further down the pyramid.

Speaking to someone the other day who was asked to pay £60.00 for a basic adult ticket to watch a recent Burnley game :o .

Few years ago now but in my yoof I regularly went to Turf Moor, Elland Road, Old Trafford to watch games. Didn't need a ticket just turned up with a Tanner (sixpence or 2.5 pence in new money) and paid on the turnstile. Mind you they weren't paying players half a million a week in them days.

Some very interesting breakdowns on the accounts figures are now shown on the OWS.

The Income from the game at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium the year before resulted in us receiving £178,000 from the gate.

I always assumed it had been at least double that. Still a good take and I suspect we won't be too far off a similar number with our FA cup earnings this season.

Quote for the Accrington Stanley fans forum

The club is in record debt, and the debt is worth more than the club is, it was £4.2m in June 2022, and the accounts up to June 2023 will be out later this month.

The above is from the Stanley fans forum and if the figure quoted for their club's debt is correct then our debt is relatively small in comparison and for me is testament to the hard work in managing our club's finances by our current BoDs.

Hmmm there were 40 thousand at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium and 7 thousand at the liberty stadium. Don’t know what prize money we earned, but gate receipts this year will hardly have returned anything at all after the costs of hosting the fixtures have been deducted (think that’s how it works in the cup and the attendances at Lincoln / Wycombe we’re surely abysmal)

Accrington Stanley have filed their 2023 accounts this week and show a Loss of £785,000. The accounts reveal much less information and analysis than our accounts show.

That will be because Morecambe FC don't satisfy the criteria for filing exemptions, hence having to submit FULL accounts, maybe because it's all under one company at MFC, i.e. football, catering, hospitality, academy, etc.

I havn't checked lately, but I seem to remember Accrington is more fragmented with different companies for different aspects, and I'm not even sure they have an academy like ours, nor the suites, bars and function rooms?

It may well be something that our potential new owners will want to change, i.e. split the club down into separate entities as there could well be benefits of doing so. PMG tried it to some extent with the hiving off of the 3g pitches and gym building, but that was more out of desperation to raise a bank loan rather than long term tax/financial planning, so isn't really a valid comparison.

Cant see how the Lincoln game cost us money tbf, as we won and got the prize money for getting through to round three, which was a decent amount. Same for Wycombe.
Swansea with only 7k there and losing probably did mind.

The Swansea game was on tv too. Ok it was ESPN I think and not BBC or ITV but presumably we still received some kind of fee?
