Our entire window has been about signing players who might come good in the future, and hoping that we can get some of that potential out of them while they’re here.

The difference with James Bailey is that he’s currently playing in Tier NINE of the pyramid. And he seems to be mid-20s. Remember Ste Yawson, scored tonnes for the reserves and did well out on loan in a higher league - released. Jason Oswell scored 25 in a Tier 6 season, came here and was gone within 6 months. The issue with him isn’t about needing experience - we can’t afford that - it’s about the 5 leagues gulf in quality and the fact he’s not actually a youngster.

I think there was an option , not sure if it was Derek's or the club's but thankfully it was taken up.

I can't think of anyone else who could have done the job he has done re-building such a good young squad under the circumstances. I think Derek loves managing us.

Ged mentioned in one of his interviews a while ago that they might look to bring in a target man in January to provide another option up front.

I’m told that when JJ makes one more appearance and we can trigger another 12 months on his contract, useful if true??

Who else has this sort of contract and if the Club triggers the extension, does the player have to stay? Does the player get an option? Can they refuse to take up the offer of an extension? Help from anyone.
