DA seems to prefer his own men in defence rather than what he inherited.

No Lavelle as an example unless he's picked up an injury in training.

Surprised that Cooney remains on the bench.

quite surprised with the lineup

thought Sam Lavelle & Harry Davis, Cooney would have been first choice, especially in the League ?

I see Freez has David at the back. Have they a big enough kit, starting with a pair of shorts? :D :D

Competition for places? Keeping them all eager? No bad thing

Sam’s played every minute since the Grimsby game where he had that knock so maybe that’s a factor in DA’s thinking - Davis didn’t play against Rochdale so maybe he’s in less need of a rest, or Derek just prefers Davis so he’s not willing to drop him. Hopefully Derek will say something about it in his interview after we’ve won 3-0 ;)

I’ve been very impressed with Mellor but I think it’s splitting hairs between him and Cooney in terms of quality.

DA seems to be using Mellor in the league and Cooney in the cups, great competition for places again

The pass and move has been fantastic so far, still struggling with the final ball but it will come if we tire them out and keep this pressure up.

Feels like the opposite to our normal games, we have a lot of pressure and the ball, but they catch us on the counter. Normally we're the team sitting back and hitting on the counter, refreshing to be on the other end but we need a goal!

Good finish but was there not a high foot in the build up where their lad does an overhead kick right next to our defenders head? Or am I grasping at straws?

Poor clearance, excellent strike.

We've had a couple of decent half-chances and playing some nice football, just need a killer last pass. Not out of this by any stretch.
