OT Armchair weather men!!

Postby mrpotatohead » Fri Feb 14, 2020 9:31 pm

Thanks to a post on here ,supported by a few clots who actually called for the match to be called off, but attended it anyway, our attendance wasn't marvelous on tuesday, and we need all the support we can get, could these buffoons possibly keep thoughts like this to themselves in future!!!

good shout!

there was one post on that Facebook fans page reading”The Match is it off” with some possibly confusing it as “The Match is off” then rumours start.

very damaging to the club.

Agreed. You can count on the fingers of one hand the number of games called off in the UK for high winds in recent years, but the prophets of doom and gloom and negativity were quick to declare the game as highly likely to be called off and that anyway it was much too dangerous to venture out in windy weather. If they engaged their brains before posting such clap trap it may well have contributed to a much needed increase in the actual attendance for an important game, instead of engendering a sense that the game was inevitably going to be off and no doubt persuading some not to bother attending.

The game was never going to be called off and best left to those in an official capacity to make any updated announcements on the OWS but regardless of their concerns, not everyone would look on here for advice and those of an organised nature would have already made their minds up one way or the other.
I did, I bought my ticket the same time as the Mansfield one and also saved 4 quid

A lesson learned, move on!

Excellent post.

I also was bemused by the posts from people who opted, or were indeed encouraging others, to stay indoors because they were too afraid to go to a football match on a windy night.

It was truly pathetic.

Exactly, it's OFFICIAL and a decision made that offers good notice, plus it's bloody long way to come that.

The fylde game, which is nothing to do with this debate, has been called off officially in good time for all concerned , and is fair enough, nobody at our club at any point intimated a remote possibility of our game being called off, it was however written off on here and on other social media by, for want of a better phrase "fair weather fans" , costing us support and income.

Comments from fair weather fans made no difference to the crowd on Tuesday whatsoever

10 games called off already this morning in national league, national league north and south
Loads more expected to be off

Redalert.....how do you know that the comments made no difference?....its possible that without this negativity, a higher gate and more revenue would have been achieved.
