We have Macclesfield and Stevenage at home , Carlisle and Orient away , we will be way above Macclesfield at the end of the season if we continue to show form like the last 3 matches (Bradford , Colchester and Port Vale).

Like all tricky spots, looks like it's coming to a head, a 12 point deduction would put them bottom, 1 point off safety but on the bright side the club would have a far better chance of being taken over from that clown.

There's no smoke without fire

It's been going on an eternity and with hope, it'll get resolved sooner rather than later for the good of all concerned, to run a football club you need to be fit and proper, that's not the case at Oldham.

Stevenage will be rubbing their hands together but even with a 12 point deduction, Latics would still finish above that pile of crap.

Bury gone so only one going down. Macc, now Oldham not looking too safe. In theory, if all three were to go, obviously it would mean no relegation, but would it mean a third team gets promoted from the conference ?

Oldham and Macclesfield won`t be getting kicked out of the league

We need to concentrate on getting to 40 points as soon as possible and not worry about others

Morecambe aren't going down,
Derek has been given a bye in his first season and it's next, where we'll see if the regulation fight to stay up
can be improved upon and the club actually taken forward.

As I understand it, Macclesfield have appealed against their six point deduction but the EFL have lodged another charge against them. Does anyone know when these issues will be resolved? It would be good to know exactly how many points each club has as we approach the end of the season. I see that the games in hand some clubs have over us are being played soon. In an ideal world Macclesfield would escape and Mr. Westley and his team would get relegated. The Shrimps, of course, zooming up the table.

It will have to all be resolved quickly. The EFL couldn't have a situation where it got to the last weeks of the season and then gave Macclesfield 6 points back.

Westley in his column in the last Sunday's Football League paper believes further sanctions against Macclesfield are the correct way to go for the integrity of the competition after they called off another game.

Macclesfield didn't call it off though, the Football League did. Macc intended to play it behind closed doors, so a slightly different situation.

The EFL called off the game as football league games are not allowed to be played behind closed doors

Macclesfield were lax in not having their a Local Authority safety certificate for their ground meaning that spectators could not be admitted on safety grounds. EFL rules prevent games being played with no spectators behind closed doors so therefore it was Macclesfield's responsibility that the game was cancelled.

I think their appeal is based on the fact that Bolton Wanderers received only a suspended points deduction for similar offences (calling a game off when not sanctioned by the EFL). They have appealed the 6 point deduction and are still pending a further 4 point deduction for another similar offence. Either way it needs sorting quickly! It's not fair on the other teams fighting for their futures to not know where they stand in relation to Macc Town. Not many outside of Stevenage are the biggest fans of Cheatanage but it must be driving them nuts at the moment waiting to get clarification on this, now being cut adrift as they are.

I don't *think* there is a rule to say games can't be played behind closed doors but the EFL said there was a high risk of crowd related problems if people turned up and couldn't get in... something like that? Yes, Macc failed to fulfil a fixture, but it was the EFL that called it off.

Points deductions just hurt fans and players, the club is in the mire thanks to bad practice from the owners, punishments and sanctions should be directly aimed at them personally, relegation should be decided on the pitch ,not off it.

Surely much depends on the reasons for the punishment. If a club has gained unfair advantages through malpractice by owners they should not be allowed to gain by those and therefore should lose points.

LMGTFY :D - 33.1 Behind closed doors. Save with the consent of The League or as a consequence of any disciplinary or regulatory proceedings, no Club may play any League or Cup Match behind closed doors so that the public are excluded from the ground.

Couldn't agree more,
Tougher regulations are needed to prevent those without adequate funds inplace, getting anywhere near a Football club.
