Funny how all the comments from Plymouth fans said he would stick to his tried and tested formation, make subs to late and just like for like and be very defensive.

Maybe he has learnt from his experience.

Will be interesting to see how we line up after January if he gets to bring in some players that suit his formation better.

Must say my first impressions of Derek are very positive.

His body language on the touchline is just what you want , encouraging the players and not going to slump in a chair when the opposition take the lead.

He has found Wildig's best position and he oozed class last night and was rightly named man of the match.

He is talking about aiming for League 1 , which is just what John Coleman said a couple of years back.

Hopefully budget, wind, rain, battling performance, good opposition, sackable performance, did their best, attacking the 4th official, never too high never too low are words and actions of the past

I love this one from Derek

"I kept the same team cos I didn't want to upset any of the players straight away"

Totally agree with all that’s been said, but not seen enough to put my rose tints back on yet. :D
Very positive start, exactly what we needed.

A very encouraging performance that hopefully bodes well for the future under our new ' head of our Red Army'.

The only problem in the short term is the squad getting used to a change of accent, from Liverpudlian to Scot overnight.

Could already even after only one days training see an improvement in our over all play but the big tests of Crawley and Crewe are now next up.

Certainly liked the way that he instructed certain players to push forward and our corner routine at long last didn't feature the long punt to the far post and beyond.

Overall it argues well for our future and shows that a change was long overdue for BOTH club and JB who will no doubt relish the new opportunity at AFC Fylde.

However the next few weeks leading up to the January transfer window will no doubt tell DA what is needed and it wouldn't surprise me if money suddenly became available for the introduction of some new blood as DA himself mentioned pre match last night.

Just wonder if the owners had withheld finance intentionally to JB to encourage him to seek a new job elsewhere. I know that a few supporters are of a similar thought.... :o

The Carlisle team on last night included 13 of their squad that featured in Friday nights FA Cup 4-1 win away so it was by no means a team of inexperienced reserve and youth team players. The only major change was in the goalkeeper who was on the bench on Friday. The 4 missing from Friday's squad appeared on last nights bench but did not get a run out.
