League 2 released players

League 2 released players

Postby Billy bodger » Wed May 01, 2024 7:45 pm

Up to date there has been 86 League Two players released so far from 8 teams. 16 teams still to announce their released players.

This shows you how hard it is to earn a sustained living in football.

Morecambe has not reported anything but as we know the loan players will go back, everyone else out of contract except Charlie who signed a few weeks ago. Maybe Charlie has done the right thing after all.

I would rather be employed than unemployed will every player out of contract find employment elsewhere?

We need updates on National League players who have been released. That's closer to our budget

98 players release by National League from 13 team’s so far.

To me they are all out of work footballers and if they want a job and money coming in, beggars cannot be choosers!

It is however as Rod said in his interview to not let other teams get ahead of us in pursuit of the players Morecambe want.

Then there are all the League 1 players that will be released, so all in all may be getting up over 400 and up to 500 released players in the 3 leagues by the time every Club has released their players.

I also agree with deadored70 we need a manager first and hopefully with phone calls happening we can have one in place before the end of the week. That’s how fast that needs to happen.

Another 3 League 1 Clubs have announced their lists;

Colchester are realising 4 players, Mansfield are realising 4 players and Newport have announced they are realising 8 players.

The running total up today is 140 players from 15 Clubs in League 1.

We need an update on anything at the moment can't believe we still haven't done a retained list yet even like last season where we said straight away we couldn't offer contracts and thank the players for their efforts.

The longer the silence goes on the more worried I get.

Surely JW realises that if a budget can't be signed off then it is game over and everything collapses like a house of cards.

The retained/released list has to be published by the 3rd Saturday in May and that is the 18th in 10 days time. Clubs involved in the play-offs have a little longer to publish theirs.

We have several contracts, to retain some of this year’s players, currently with the EFL, according to Rod. I would think we are waiting to see if the EFL will accept them.

How it works with the embargo in place I don’t really know, one thing that is stipulated is the club cannot pay extra. So whatever is in the option clauses of their current contract cannot be renegotiated. ie the club cannot offer them more.

So we will have to wait on the EFL on those contracts. Now if the Club announces a provisional list like some Clubs I don’t know (we know, except for Charlie, every other players contract is up), we don’t know who had options on their contracts and who took up those options.

I would think the clubs in the playoffs won’t announce their lists before the play off final, so maybe we have to wait and see on those Clubs realised players list and because of that the cut off date is just not yet, for ours!!

We are now in mid week into a second week of being manager less, so hopefully the search for a new manager is coming to an end.

600 Seated season tickets been sold up till today.

It appears that Harry Kite is leaving Exeter as he thinks it's time to move on but why would he want to come here? :o

I'm interested in a 3 some with Kylie and her sister. That carries as much weight as anything from the club.

Doncaster Rovers have announced that they have released 7 players. That makes a total of 16 teams that have announced who they are releasing, making a running total of 147 released players.

If I am correct the other 8 teams (including Morecambe), have until this weekend to announce their lists.

We need to be sorted out A.S.A.P. , either JW agrees a new budget, sells or we are well and truly:- “@&%#¥£?€§”

Salford released 2 players Gillingham 8 players and Harrogate 3 players released.

That’s a total of 160 players from 19 teams.

Just 5 teams to declare:- Crew; Crawly, MKDons; Morecambe; Walsall:

We need to sort our selves out pronto and get in the market, however the hell we do it.

With no manager, who is even making the call of who to release? I'm assuming it will be everyone released apart from Brown and any who are awaiting their contracts to be approved by the EFL.
